Day 1 — Sunday
Arrival in Dijon
In the afternoon, you will be met by a crew member of the Prospérité at the designated meeting point. From here, relax as you are chauffeured to the Prospérité, moored in the village of Plombieres-les-Dijon. A traditional champagne welcome and introduction to the crew awaits you, before your first gourmet dinner onboard.
Day 2 — Monday
Cruise to Fleury sur Ouche | Excursion to Clos de Vougeot
The luxurious journey begins with a morning cruise. Laze on deck in the hot tub, or explore the countryside via bicycle. This afternoon, visit the Château du Clos de Vougeot, where Cistercian monks made wine in the 12th century. Explore the preserved presses on which these iconic Burgundian vintages were made. Return to the Prospérité for an evening of drinks and dinner onboard.
Day 3 — Tuesday
Cruise to Gissey sur Ouche | Excursion to Dijon, market and tour
A lazy morning cruise awaits you this morning. In the afternoon, the town of Dijon offers a pleasurable excursion ashore. Mingle with the locals as you browse seasonal produce, boutique cheese, and freshly baked bread at “Les Halles,” the region’s food market. Preserved palaces and beautiful churches vie for attention with specialty boutiques, small cafes, and serene gardens. Shop, sip, and stroll your way through this small city brimming with authentic Burgundian life. Return to the Prospérité for aperitifs and appetizers before tonight’s delicious dinner.
Day 4 — Wednesday
Cruise to La Bussière-sur-Ouche | Excursion to Cromey and winetasting
Coffee and croissants begin the day. During this morning’s cruise, laze in the hot tub, join your Captain in his wheelhouse, or explore the towpath’s flora and fauna with a brisk stroll or exhilarating bicycle ride. After lunch, swirl, sip, and savor locally produced wines at the Domaine de Cromey with Anne and Peter – one of the best introductions to the art of wine tasting in Burgundy. Your Tour Guide returns you to the Prospérité for cocktails and canapes before Chef presents tonight’s gourmet dinner.
Day 5 — Thursday
Cruise to Pont d'Ouche | Excursion to Châteauneuf-en-Auxois | Dinner at Michelin starred restaurant
Revel the ambiance of the tranquil countryside during this morning’s cruise. This afternoon, your Tour Guide escorts you to Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, a castle overlooking the Canal. A walking tour through the château reveals the architectural details and timeworn relics which speak to the deprivations and decadence so prevalent in France’s history. Return to the barge for an afternoon cruise before your dinner ashore at the Abbaye de la Bussière, an ancient Cistercian abbey now converted to a luxury hotel with a Michelin star rated restaurant.
Day 6 — Friday
Cruise to Vandenesse-en-Auxois | Excursion to Beaune
Bon matin! Begin the day with a leisurely morning cruise. Stroll or bicycle along the towpath, or join Chef in the demonstration kitchen for an informal cooking lesson. In the afternoon, a drive in your private vehicle culminates in the charming town of Beaune, the region’s wine capital. Your Tour Guide will accompany you through the Hospice de Beaune, a prestigiously preserved Medieval hospital built in the 15th century. Return to the barge for tonight’s festive Farewell Feast.
Day 7 — Saturday
Departure from Vandenesse-en-Auxois
After breakfast, you’ll be chauffeured to the designated drop off point at one location.
Please note: This route is subject to change and runs in the reverse direction on alternate weeks.
“We are back from our trip and had a wonderful time. It was truly a magical week. The Prosperite and its staff exceeded expectations by far. It is a beautiful barge and we all loved it. Each one of the staff were so special and made us feel at home and spoiled!”
LL party, USA Sept 2023
“Our cruise on the Prosperite far exceeded our expectations. The incredibly multi-talented crew were very personable and capable and always eager to make us comfortable. They managed each day graciously and seemingly effortlessly although we quickly realized they were like a well-oiled machine. Altogether, our group is pretty well-traveled, and we all felt this trip was memorable and enjoyable start to finish. Our best to you and our new friends on the Prosperite, Doreen, Emil, Herve, Mary, Morgane and Vincent.”
