Linssen Boats in FranceLuxury cruising for two couples, beautifully finished and equipped

The 32 AC (aft cabin) blends ‘retro styling’ with modern construction and equipment. The result is a very comfortable and easy-to-handle boat with Classic styling. With a double cabin to the fore and aft, both with bathrooms, and a teak aft deck for dining and relaxation she is luxurious and easy to handle.

The Linssen ‘9’ series boats are unusually complete, arranged for maximum convenience and comfort. Thanks to their unusual chine-type hull, these boats are highly stable and their new shape below the water line combined with the shape of the keel and the rudder, and the rudder balance means that they are easy to pilot in reverse, even counter to the propeller’s direction of rotation.

Canal du Midi – Canal de la Robine

The Canal du Midi has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of the achievement of architect Pierre-Paul Riquet in linking the Etang du Thau in the south east with the River Garonne in Toulouse, effectively connecting the Mediterranean with the Atlantic. His engineering prowess can be seen in the flight of nine characteristically oval-shaped locks at Fonserannes near the ancient city of Beziers, and if ticking off UNESCO sites is your thing, then you get two for one in Carcassonne, where the canal passes close to the ancient citadel that forms one of the most iconic skylines in the whole country.

The canal meanders between the vineyards of Corbieres to the south and the Minervois to the north and a visit to the wine town of Minerve, one of the most beautiful in France, is a treat. A diversion along the Canal de la Robine leads to Narbonne, which dates back to Roman times when it was a strategic trading centre, and even today its covered market, supplied by local producers, is a kind of foodie heaven.

Charter Management Ownership Programme Linssen Boats in France

Charter Management gives you the opportunity to own a superb Linssen boat in France, to enjoy annual holidays on this boat and to be safe in the knowledge that not only are there no running costs for the vessel, but that you will also be receiving an income from your investment.

Linssen 32 AC boat for saleBased upon current figures, the income can represent a return of around 5% on the price of the vessel. If the value of the holiday and the costs associated with boat ownership (insurance, vignette licence, maintenance and mooring fees) are taken into account, then this increases to approximately 10%. This is a significant return and the total value of the package over the 5 year term of the contract may exceed 100,000€, which is approximately one half of the original build cost.

Charter Income

Income from hiring the boat will naturally vary according to boat model and time of year. However, based on Linssen France’s extensive experience, over a number of decades, of hiring boats from bases in Central and Southern France, owners can expect an income of 11-12,000€ annually, being 32% of the nett hire price achieved. Hire prices will inevitably rise over the period of ownership and so will the owner’s income share.

Owner’s Holiday Use

Owners have the unrestricted use of their boats for four weeks during the season, excepting July and August. Outside the hire season, boats can be used by owners but not every canal may be open during the late Autumn-Winter-early Spring period – and boats will also be subject to annual maintenance by Linssen France during this time.

Obviously, there is a ‘retail’ value to these four weeks use, in the region of 8-9,000€

Costs

All costs associated with hiring the boat are included, for example insurance, waterways vignette licence, professional maintenance and mooring. Owners would be responsible for their own fuel and other expenses during their period of use, and also for preparing and returning the boat for normal hire operation.

Quite apart from a ‘peace of mind’ value, this no-overhead value would be in the region of 6,000€

Whilst some boats might be considered to be depreciating in value during the Ownership Programme period, Linssen boats because of their high quality and steel construction will lose value minimally, if at all. Value at completion might fairly reliably be anticipated to equate to the bought cost, excluding tax.

Conclusion After Five Years

  • Charter Income – 11,500€ x 5 = 57,500€
  • Owner’s Use Value – 8,500€ x 5 = 42,500€
  • No Overhead Value – 6,000€ x 5 = 30,000€
    .
  • Total Value = 130,000€
